The 4 best practices in cybersecurity

Protecting corporate data is a top priority for organizations of all sizes. With cyber-attacks on the rise, it's crucial to adopt sound practices to secure sensitive information. Here are some of the best practices for protecting corporate data:

1. Use of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) :

Implementing multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security, making unauthorized access to systems more difficult. According to a CIRA report (Canadian Internet Registration Authority), 48% of Canadian companies will have implemented multi-factor authentication by 2022.

2. Data encryption

Data encryption, both in transit and at rest, is crucial to protecting sensitive information. This ensures that even if data is intercepted, it cannot be read without the appropriate decryption keys.

Some 68% of Canadian companies use encryption techniques to protect their data, according to a Statistics Canada report.

3. Security updates and patches

Keeping software and systems up to date with the latest security patches to protect the infrastructure against vulnerabilities and cyber-attacks is a priority for many companies in Canada.

Nearly 56% of Canadian companies have fallen victim to a cyber attack due to outdated software, according to a Deloitte study.

4. Employee training

Employees must be trained in security best practices, including recognition of phishing attempts and other forms of social engineering.
